About

I'm more creative than organized.
I have a weakness for chocolate and Pepsi.
I dream big and love to plan but sometimes lack on follow-through.
I love to travel but am a homebody at heart.
I'm an odd combination of stubborn and sensitive.
I tend to overcommit but am learning that that simpler is often better.
I dearly love people but also need time alone to recharge.
I'm an optimist but not a morning person... until after my beloved coffee!
Most importantly, I am a redeemed sinner, saved by the grace of Jesus.
My main goal is for His light to shine through me, and while I often fail, I try to love better everyday.

I'm married to my best friend, Jeff, and the sunshine of my life is our daughter, Kate. My first and most important job is Mom, and my other job is education professor. I think too much and love words, which seemed to be a good combination for a blog. I'm trying to build a daily writing habit, so I hope to split my time between here and education stuff, some of which you can find at EdOutsideTheBox.com.

This blog is titled after my late grandmother's favorite word serendipity, which means "an unexpected pleasant surprise." She was my favorite person, and she possessed an extraordinary ability to love God and people, to live simply but generously, and to search for serendipities in the everyday. I want to be more like her.

Thanks for reading,

April
